Samantha knew they were frugal because their bill ($87) and tip ($13) were the same every week. However, on her birthday, they tipped extra to celebrate with her. But the extra was too extra, and it didn't sit right with her. As it turns out, she was right. Three hours later, they came back, crying 'thief!'. Extravagant tip
Every single week, the couple's bill would be around $87 and a couple of cents. They would hand her a $100 note and say the rest was for her. But since it was her birthday, they handed her extra bills. When she was about to tab them, she realized they gave her two $100 bills and a $20 bill. She went back to say they gave her the wrong amount, but they cut her off, saying, "No, no, no. The rest is for you. We're here to celebrate your birthday." Just to be safe, she tried to explain exactly how much more they gave her, but they wouldn't hear anything, insisting it was for her. Knowing how careful they usually were with money, Samantha wasn't convinced the extra cash was intentional. She asked her manager to keep the $120 in a separate envelope instead of pocketing it.

Three hours later, the couple came back claiming they left the wrong amount of money. Samantha immediately went to get it. When she was back, they were already talking to her manager, accusing her of pocketing the money. The man called her "dishonest," "misleading," and said she should've told him he left an extra $100 bill. After the manager explained that Samantha had never kept the money and had stored it separately, the wife's tone changed. She suddenly remarked, "Oh, she's so sweet!" And Samantha thought the situation was resolved. As it turns out, the couple called corporate on her, and she got written up for the incident.
Kindness turned cruel
Working in the service and hospitality industry is not for the faint of heart. The survey also revealed that 15% of hourly employed restaurant workers changed the industry in the year prior, while 33% expressed that they want to in the near future. As for Samantha, she tried to return the couple's money multiple times, but they insisted it was hers. Hours later, they confronted and harassed her, refusing to let go of their accusations that she had stolen from them.
Bad regulars
People were surprised that Samantha still got a write-up after the manager vouched for her. However, she explained that it was from corporate. @kshansant commented, "What’s up with the write-up?
