Barack and Michelle Obama celebrate 27th anniversary with heartfelt tributes: "Still feel the magic"

Forever First Couple Barack and Michelle Obama celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on October 3, 2019. In order to commemorate the occasion, the couple took to social media platforms Twitter and Instagram in order to post heartwarming and loving tributes to each other, CNN reports. Needless to say, the internet squealed a collective "awwww" when they saw the posts. As always, the Obamas have taught us all an important life lesson about love, relationships, and commitment.

Former President of the United States Barack Obama was the first to post an adorable message for his wife. Uploading a photo of the two of them watching a beautiful sunset, with Michelle hugging husband Barack, he stated, "Like the Beatles said: It’s getting better all the time. Thanks, babe, for 27 amazing years!" Since first being posted, the tweet has garnered over 1.5 million "likes" and has been retweeted over 171,500 times. Fans of the Obamas responded to his tweet with congratulations and positive wishes. Environmental activist Leilani Münter replied, "We miss you so much Mr. and Mrs. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama. They say politics is a pendulum and you swung it so far in a positive direction that the bounce back to the other side has been a very difficult thing to witness."

Michelle Obama, former FLOTUS, posted her own anniversary wish too. She wrote, "27 years ago, this guy promised me a life full of adventure. I’d say he’s delivered. Here’s to our next chapter of becoming empty nesters and discovering what’s next—while still feeling the magic that brought us together all those years ago. Happy anniversary, Barack." She uploaded a photo of the couple grinning at the camera as the sun set behind them. They appear to be by a beautiful lake or port. Her post received over 1.2 million "likes" and was shared over 126,000 times. A fan responded, "You guys are beautiful. Wishing you and Barack a very happy anniversary, with 27 more years and beyond of happiness and Love. Thank you for your enduring example of marital bliss. WE LOVE YOU!"

Barack and Michelle Obama met each other in 1989 when Michelle was assigned as Barack's mentor at their law firm. Though she was his mentor, he asked her out on a date anyway - and Michelle agreed though she thought it was a little "tacky" at first. They connected, of course, and got engaged a few years later in 1991. A year afterward, they got married to each other in Chicago. Michelle once revealed of her now-husband's wedding vows, "Barack didn’t pledge riches, only a life that would be interesting. On that promise he delivered." Those aren't the only promises he delivered on, of course. The United States will forever be grateful for all the promises he, and Michelle, too, kept during their two terms in the White House.
