She shared a hilarious story about a cake gone wrong after misreading the request for an 'Elmo cake' and instead made an 'Emo cake' for a four-year-old's birthday.
Sometimes bakeries take their artistic license a bit too far and misinterpret cake designs in hilarious ways. However, at least they make for some great stories and unforgettable moments. When a baker misread the request for an "Elmo cake," an interesting birthday cake was in making. TikTok user, Brianna Romero - who goes by @brinnicakes on TikTok - shared a hilarious story of a cake gone wrong. While making another cake in the video, Romero shared how she had received an order for an "Emo" cake, which she describes as her worst nightmare.
“Last week, a lady DMed me and asked me if I can make an 'emo cake,' and I was thinking ‘Yes, of course. I love emo and I love goth.’” Romero was more than happy to make this cake. “I get all the info, the flavor when she needs it by and everything like that,” She said, adding that after she finished frosting the cake on the day the cake was set to be delivered, she reached out to the client to ask if she wanted a number candle to go with it. “She says, 'Yes, it’s for my granddaughter and she’s turning four.'"
However, she was taken aback when she found out that the cake was actually intended for a four-year-old. “I thought I was a little bit weird because I don’t know an emo four-year-old,” she added. “But I was thinking, I was trying to reason with myself, maybe she just likes ‘Wednesday’ or something like that. Romero had a hunch that something was not quite right. So, she decided to DM the customer and politely enquired, "Yes, of course, I’ll add the four candles but if you don’t mind me asking what is the theme of the party?" The customer responded, "It's Sesame Street."
This is when she realized that she was mistaken. “My heart sinks a little bit because this is now making sense to me,” she said, telling viewers that she went back to the original text to see what the customer initially said. “And when I scroll back, I misread emo and it says ‘Elmo cake.’” With less than an hour remaining for the delivery, she went to the nearby Albertsons grocery store. She asked the bakery there to put an Elmo on top of the cake, but when they refused, she decided to give the cake to the customer for free with a cutout of Elmo on the top.
Romero also posted a follow-up video revealing the "emo Elmo cake" upon request. “Heard y'all wanted a reveal??? Sorry, it took long, I would’ve included photos in the original if I had them but like I said I was in a rush,” Romero wrote in the caption of this video. “Anyway here's the freaking emo Elmo cake okay!”
People had only nice and amusing things to say about this hilarious incident. @saraperrayy said, "Not me hoping it was the customer's fault." @destini.semone expressed, "I got an order to do a cake for a neon golfing party. Somehow my mind registered neon skate party. I was sick when it was pointed out!"
