The customer was adamant about the intricate details and dos and don'ts of the cake but wanted all of that for just $50 until she got a reality check from the baker.

Couples often want the best for their wedding day. One of the top elements couples pay special attention to is the wedding cake. Apart from a display, it also plays a significant role in celebrating the special day. While people spend thousands of dollars on their wedding cakes, a baker, u/RainbowSprinkles4, mentioned that one of their customers tried to get an intricate customized wedding cake for just $50. However, the baker had a classic response. The bride-to-be received a call from the baker regarding the instructions for the cake and to share other relevant information.

“She informed me right away that she didn’t want her time wasted and if I wasn’t serious about doing this, to let her know immediately,” they wrote. The bride-to-be was adamant about getting her wedding cake done to perfection and cautioned the baker to follow details and arrangements. While sharing the details of a rather extravagant cake, the post read, “She wanted three tiers propped up on a sparkly acrylic stand. She wanted fresh flowers, which should use that quilted technique as the base. If I could use a mix of fresh and sugar flowers, that would be acceptable too.”

The instructions didn’t end there. She specifically asked the baker not to use store-bought sugar flowers as “she would be able to tell.” Adding more instructions, the baker shared that she wanted three different flavors for the cake. “She also wanted one of those little toy dogs you hide at the back with a tiny bit removed to make it look like it bit into the cake. This dog was supposed to be an Australian Shepherd because that’s what they own. If I couldn’t find an Australian Shepard toy, I should make it out of fondant.”

While trying to figure out the cost of the cake based on the details and instructions, the baker gave her a temporary amount. “I told her that I think she could anticipate a minimum of $850-$900, which I know was low-balling, but I needed some time to do some sourcing and math,” they said. “She told me she wanted it for 50. I braced myself and decided to play dumb, so I said, ‘That’s a lot of cake for 50 people,’” the baker wrote, baffled by the woman’s behavior. The woman blatantly said, “$50,” but the baker knew how to set her right. “You want to spend $50 on ingredients?” they asked her. “No, for the cake,” the woman carelessly replied. The baker added, “$50 won’t even buy the flowers for a cake this size.” Extremely nonchalant about herself, the woman responded, “That’s our budget, take it or leave it!”

“I’m leaving it,” the baker shrewdly said. What followed was an argument, where the woman asked, “Are you new at this?” The baker iconically replied, “No, you’re being delusional.” She further tried to put down the baker and ungratefully said, “Don’t get snippy. I’m going to go somewhere else.” However, the baker had a top-notch reply to conclude the conversation with. They remarked, “Good luck, $50 won’t buy you three plain cakes at Walmart.” u/DaveWpgC wrote, “You dodged a bullet. Regardless of the price you two agreed to, she would complain the entire time, never be placated and give you a shitty review.” u/baka-tari hilariously added, “Girl sounds like she was baked. You can't even get a cake by the ocean for $50.”
