Although showrunners initially kept him under wraps — deliberately holding back on releasing Baby Yoda merchandise in order to avoid potential leaks — fans are now dying to get their hands on anything and everything related to the incredibly adorable character.
The internet fell head over heels in love with Baby Yoda the moment the unbelievably cute Star Wars character first appeared on the screen. With his tiny arms and melt-your-heart eyes, the instantly popular character from the Star Wars Disney+ original television series The Mandalorian, brought quite a bit of attention to the show. Although showrunners initially kept him under wraps — deliberately holding back on releasing Baby Yoda merchandise in order to avoid potential leaks — fans are now dying to get their hands on anything and everything related to the incredibly adorable character. Tapping in on this lucrative opportunity, Build-A-Bear is now set to release a stuffed version of "The Child," aka little Baby Yoda.
According to Business Insider, Build-A-Bear CEO Sharon Price John revealed the highly anticipated new toy at the ICR Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Tuesday. "I’m excited to share we will be one of the first companies to provide the digital and internet phenomenon who is trending higher than all the presidential candidates combined. We now will have The Child, also known as Baby Yoda," he said, adding that the cuddly toy will be available at Build-A-Bear workshops in the next few months.

"It's great, again, to be in business with best-in-class partners," he added. John also revealed that Build-A-Bear, Disney, and Lucasfilms have been working on the new toy for quite some time now. "We started this process almost with the first episode," he said.
However, Build-A-Bear isn't the first company to announce Baby Yoda merchandise. According to PEOPLE, Funko Pop! announced last month that a figurine based on the uber-popular character will be available in stores starting May 2020. Meanwhile, there are several other doll interpretations of The Child available for pre-order, so in case you don't want to wait any longer, make sure you check those out.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, showrunner Jon Favreau previously explained why they chose not to release any Baby Yoda merchandise before the character's onscreen debut. "The way the cat usually gets out of the bag with that stuff is merchandising and toy catalogs and things like that. We really wanted to have it be that you had to watch it yourself so that every time you watched the show there’d be new twists and secrets coming out. But that requires a lot of restraint from the people footing the bill. Part of that was holding back on things like merchandise," he said.
