Autistic bride steals hearts with her 'honest' and 'heartfelt' wedding vows to husband

Wedding vows often count for the most profound exchanges between couples and mark the foundation on which they will begin their married lives. Troy and Kirsten Durand shared the same and have gone viral for the bride’s honest and pure emotions overflowing out of the vows, reports Newsweek. The couple shared a clip on TikTok (@tandkay021) of her saying her vows ever so honestly and pleasantly and it’s all the raw emotion one needs. Kirsten mentioned that as an autistic person, she struggles with expressing her emotions, but her vows were miraculously and wholesomely full of them. 

“Troy, everyone always told me that I was dreaming.” Kirsten began her vows. “That my standards were too high, and I needed to settle at some point—but I didn’t listen. I knew you were out there,” she said. To describe “how much love” she had for her husband, she wrote the heart-melting vows. “If you tried to take all of my favorite things and put them in one room, it wouldn’t even come close to how much I care about you,” she added. The bride proudly shared that her husband filled in the missing gaps and “made a list of the things she didn’t even know were missing.” 

Welling up with tears, she continued, “You are my everything. I am my best self because I know you. You even me out.” “You believed in me when I couldn’t. You loved me, you showed me my worth, and through that, I will show you every day how worthy you are,” she exclaimed. “They say you don’t need a man, you want one. But I am not ashamed to say that I need you,” Kirsten added as she burst into tears. With promises and memories to share, the bride moved the crowd and her husband into a flood of emotions. Kirsten shared that her vows meant more than anything.

“They can come out wrong—either too blunt or too logical and not emotive enough,” she explained. “I will not be Rose from Titanic and you will not be Jack. There will be room for both of us on the door and if not, we will both take turns in the cold water, but you will probably be first,” Kirsten joked. “My words were coming across exactly as intended for the first time in my life. This was so special for me, and the fact it was captured on video makes it that much more special... I could openly share my feelings, which are often hard for me to verbalize,” she recalled.

“You bring out a type of love that I never knew I had. I’m so excited for the future as I know whatever comes our way, we will go through it together,” Kirsten concluded her vows. People were bawling in tears after getting to witness the overwhelming moment. @meganandes0 said, “As an autistic girly- thank you for this.” @katiefedele remarked, “I love honest, heartfelt vows. You can tell she means it.” @specialknurse wrote, “Absolutely amazing and heartfelt! I would love a copy of your vows to use as a reference for my vows this summer.”
