Stand-up comedy is a very creative and challenging performance to pull off. But sometimes, hecklers in the audience have no consideration for the effort that the artist is putting in and decide to disturb them during the show. Some comedians engage with the hecklers for added humor, while others shut them down quickly. There are times when a good heckler makes the show more memorable, but a bad one risks ruining the experience for everyone. Maddy Smith (@somaddysmith) had to go through something similar at one of her recent shows in Arizona and while she did have the situation under control for the most part, a gentleman in the audience stepped in to help her.

She shared the video on her TikTok and captioned it, "Things got crazy in Arizona!! Luckily, my fans are the real ones! Come out and see me live!" The post has gone viral with over 803.3K likes and 1961 comments. At the beginning of the video, viewers get to see Smith going through her act, at which point the heckler says something and she stops to ask him, "What did you just say?" He tells her to "say something funny." The crowd boos the man and Smith appears confused because she thought the audience was enjoying her show. She asks the audience, "I thought we were cooking?" The audience agrees with her, but the heckler disagrees.

A fellow audience member loses his patience seeing the heckler's inconsiderate behavior and tells him to "get out." He immediately gets up and goes to confront the heckler. At this point, Smith begins to panic a bit, seeing the confrontation spiral out of control and asks him to wait. The man is enraged at the heckler's behavior, but Smith manages to convince him to return to his seat. The man exclaims, "We are enjoying ourselves!"

Smith tries to defuse the situation with humor, saying, "This is super romantic!" She requests servers at the venue to give the angry audience member a few shots to calm him down. The audience cheers upon hearing this. The heckler can be heard yelling as he was being taken out of the venue. Smith simply replies that she does not care for what he thinks.

She then remarks, "I don't know what you want me to say. There's like 400 people here and everyone's laughing a lot." Smith then funnily remarks how the incident did not matter because she was on "Lexapro" and rich. She then thanks the audience member who helped with the situation. People on the site shared their love for the gentleman who stood up for the comedian in the comments section.
