Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis explain why they will not leave any money to their children

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis sparked an online debate when they revealed plans to donate their children’s entire inheritance to charity. The pair have a combined net worth of $275m, with Kutcher more famously known as a technology investor today, with notable early investments in dozens of successful companies. According to The Independent, Kutcher told "Armchair Expert" host Dax Shepard in a 2018 interview that he and his wife have no intentions of leaving their money to their two children – daughter Wyatt, eight, and son Dimitri, six. A viral tweet from the celebrity gossip account @ThePopTingz called renewed attention to this revelation and sparked mixed reactions on social media. The tweet added that the Hollywood couple has taken this decision because they do not wish their children to become spoiled and entitled and wants them to be motivated to work hard.

"I'm not setting up a trust for them," Kutcher told Shepard. "We'll end up giving our money away to charity and various things." The 45-year-old actor explained that his reason for giving their money away is because his children are "living a privileged life, and they don't even know it. And they'll never know it, because this is the only one that they'll know."

However, he and Kunis have decided that they will financially support their children if they ever came to them with a business idea. "If my kids want to start a business, and they have a good business plan, I'll invest in it. But they're not getting trust," Kutcher added. Twitter users had a lot to say about the "Two and a Half Men" star's revelation. 

"I understand the motivation but set up a trust with some guidelines in place. This decision seems kinda terrible, frankly," tweeted @JasonCrouch. Singer-songwriter Chioma also tweeted in response to Hollywood's nepotism debate: "Honestly that's so sad to be the only rich kids missing out on nepo money." Real estate investor @SpiritofPines added, "Why just your kids? Give it away right now so you don't spoil yourself either." Twitter user @hopfiIms said, "Are these the same people who don't wash their kids? Sounds like abuse."

In 2021, Kunis admitted that the couple does not believe in bathing their children every day. According to The Independent, during an appearance on the "Armchair Expert" podcast, the couple revealed that they only wash their children if they "see dirt on them."

Kunis responded to the backlash she received for not bathing her kids in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in 2021. "Somehow the conversation derailed into bathing habits. We all started talking about how we don't bathe our children very often and/or ourselves. I shower every day. But I don't wash my hair every day. I don't find that to be a necessity."

Calling the internet drama "dumb," she added, "I mean, I shower, Ellen. The kids – there's a body of water they touch just about every day. Almost every other day. Sometimes it's the pool, sometimes it's the sprinkler. It just depends. It's Covid. We didn't leave the house. Who cares?"

Kunis also told Entertainment Tonight in 2017 that she and Kutcher were determined not to "raise a**holes." The "Bad Moms" actor said: "There are enough a**holes in this world! We don't need to contribute. But, you know, there are some nice people."
