'He is just like his mother. Is it any wonder that I caught him in the dead of night with lipstick on his suit and tie?' the lyrics read.

Dolly Parton's song "Jolene," a heartbreaking depiction of a woman pleading with another beautiful woman not to steal her man, became a commercial hit, resonating with anyone who has ever feared losing their love. Years later, Belles (@bellesmusic), an artist, created a sequel to the original song. Unassumingly, she contacted Parton's team and sent them the sequel, hoping to hear back soon. Surprisingly, that happened, and the "9 to 5" artist's team returned to Belles, offering her a life-changing opportunity. She posted it on her Instagram page on February 10.
Parton's team had assured Belles that they would play her song in front of the singer and get back with her reaction to it. Soon enough, her team responded, saying they would love to get on a Zoom call with Belles. "[I am] so nervous about what this news is going to be, so if it is good news, and something cool happens, I am going to film it," she recorded herself hours before the Zoom call. Fortunately, the meeting turned out to be super successful, and Parton's team informed her that she had loved the new version of the 1973 song. "She will sing with you," Parton's team said, and Belles was all over the moon. She was so shocked that she couldn't believe that Parton loved her song and was willing to perform with her. "For real?" Belles asked, still in shock. "What dreams are made of. [I] still can’t believe this is real. Beyond excited to share this journey with y’all..." she wrote in the caption.
While Parton's original song focused on a woman begging another woman, Jolene, to spare her man and not take him away, Belles' version spoke of Jolene's son, who is her replica and is cheating on his partner. Basically, the song is a comparison between the mother-son duo from a woman's perspective. "I am just another fool who fell for him and the vision of what could have been, but who was I expecting him to be? The son of Jolene," reads a part of the lyrics. The woman in the song says that she knew she was in for a heartbreak the moment he told her about his mother, Jolene. "He is just like his mother. Is it any wonder that I caught him in the dead of night with lipstick on his suit and tie?" the lyrics read.
It's not the first time the "There Was Jesus" artist performed with her fan. Gage Blackwell, a 12-year-old fan with Down syndrome, got the opportunity to do something that most singers only dream of — a duet with Dolly Parton. It all started when someone from Blackwell's school saw his video, where he said he'd love to meet Parton. They encouraged his mom to contact the singer's team. After a few emails, the meeting was arranged, and Blackwell got to perform with his idol. "Dolly made him feel like the most important person in the room. She was so amazing to just embrace him the way she did. He will never forget her kindness and, as his mother, I will always be grateful for the love she showed to my wonderful son," his mom told TODAY.

Meanwhile, reacting to the singer's life-changing moment, @kailenrosenberg.lovearchitect commented, "This is all so exciting! Just the beginning of so much that's coming your way! It couldn’t be happening to anyone more deserving!" @stewey85 wrote, "You took a leap of faith, and it is the best reward that could have happened. So awesome & excited to hear it." @averysargent22 shared, "OMG, I'm so happy for you! My mom's favorite country artist and my favorite artist getting to sing together is so exciting!"
