Many applicants are becoming discouraged by the number of rejections they're facing in the current job market. While many are even being ghosted, one candidate who goes by u/Any_Introduction_677 shared how their application process ended with a smile, even though they were rejected. In a post shared on January 18, the person revealed that they applied for a copywriter position and received a response that touched their heart. Although the company would not be moving forward with their application, they reached out to commend the effort and skill of the job seeker, and the thoughtfulness and encouragement are something many are looking for.

Sharing a screenshot of the email received, the candidate revealed that they were struggling with job applications over the last few weeks. Like for any other person trying out there, it is stressful to keep applying, repeatedly share work to prove skills, and go through rounds of interviews. However, this application felt like it was worth it after reading the kind message. “I really appreciated your creativity in your application for the copywriter position,” the recruiter wrote. They honestly confessed that they were looking for someone based in the United States and therefore would not be going ahead with the application.

The person also took the time to appreciate the work shared as part of the application. “I did want to reach out to encourage you to keep doing what you're doing. Your application caught my eye out of the 100s of responses we received,” they said. If you’re someone who is on the lookout in the job market, you know that even these two statements are an instant boost. The email concluded with “I wish you all the very best. I hope the right opportunity comes along for you soon!” The candidate revealed that “reading this email made me feel seen.” And that’s honestly the least fellow job seekers can expect from recruiters when they put their heart and soul into an application.

According to data shared by Job Seekers, candidates are in a very unprofessional and helpless position due to the ruthless and negligent attitude many companies have. 65% of job seekers noted that they don’t receive consistent responses after sending in an application. Either their application goes unacknowledged, or they’re just left waiting for months before they receive a follow-up. 40% of applicants noted that they were ghosted after the second or third round of interview. A majority of them mentioned that even if they are rejected, a genuine response is expected and increases their overall impression of the company. 70% applicants said that they’d like to know a detailed reason for their rejection.

What is, is when they've already removed me from consideration and provided no notice at all.” u/DontQuoteMeOnThat7 remarked, “Great example of how easy it is to be kind and leave a lasting impression.”
