\Anna Kendrick recently talked about her opinion on having children. The "Twilight" and "Pitch Perfect" actress has long been honest about her position on having kids. Back in a 2016 bestselling memoir titled, "Scrappy Little Nobody," Kendrick shared that "Motherhood isn’t for me," then again in the same year she talks about why she would never have kids. "Well, if I have kids, it’s just another kid that your kid is going to have to fight when the water wars come,” she joked, in an interview with E News.

Now, the 39-year-old actress opened up about not having kids in a chat with Flow Space about why she feels that way. "I was thinking recently about a phrase I've heard men say about their desire to have children in the future, and it occurred to me: I don't think I've ever heard a woman say that," the actress says. "And the thing they'll say is, ‘Yeah, maybe one day — a couple of kids running around,'" she added. She then says that she doesn't think that she has ever heard a woman say that. "Because it paints a certain visual, yes?" she adds.

The "certain visual" she says is "That you come home at the end of your workday, and you put down your proverbial briefcase, and you're making yourself a cocktail, and a woman in a Laura Ashley dress is out in the yard, and there's a couple of kids — in white! — running around." "I don't know, there's something about that phrase that really starts to rub me the wrong way," Kendrick continues. "It's like when I hear husbands say they want to 'help out' with the kids. And it's two working parents!"

Earlier this year, while speaking with The Guardian, Anna Kendrick said, "I don’t ever think about having kids, so I guess I spend just as little time thinking about weaponizing that." She also talks about how after getting a pet cat, the first thought that crossed her mind was, "Someone should really make a robot cat that does all the purring and the kneading. And then I was like: wait, I’m not even up to the 'cat lady' part! Why would anyone trust me with a kid?" "I thought I’d have an easier time falling asleep with the weight of a cat on me. But I’m not responsible enough to own a cat," she added. The actor is now making her directorial debut with the thriller "Woman of the Hour," based on the true story of serial killer Alcala.

More and more women choosing not to have kids, and the change in not wanting to adhere to societal expectations is attributed to multiple factors. Women not only want to embrace the freedom that comes with not having to shoulder such a mammoth responsibility, but they also are scared to have a child in today's economy where the childcare costs are getting out of hand. Women find themselves simply wanting to focus on their careers and live a carefree life. So much so that this 24-year-old decided to eliminate the chances of having a child once and for all.

Abby Ramsay went viral on social media after she shared a compilation of photos that looked like a typical pregnancy announcement at first but was her revealing the paperwork of her sterilization surgery. "If you know me, you know that I decided to live a child-free life since I was at least 16. When I turned 19 I decided to start looking into permanent sterilization. The first OBGYN I brought this up to told me I needed therapy (I was already getting therapy at the time) and told me she would not discuss it with me," Ramsay wrote on Instagram.
