Not even 10 minutes into the 2023 Oscars, Andrew Garfield already gave us a meme-worthy moment. During host Jimmy Kimmel's opening monologue, he referenced the infamous Will Smith slap and called out the audience who would be able to protect him from any violence. Also, he pointed out a few celebrities who played fictional characters, reported TODAY. The list included the "Mandalorian" played by Pedro Pascal, "Adonis Creed" by Michael B. Jordan, and Andrew Garfield's "Spider-Man." As the camera panned to Garfield, he gave a very unsettling yet hilarious smile that gave off the same energy as 'Just wave and smile for the cameras.'

As usual, the internet did not waste another second and went straight to social media. "Me when I'm ugly and projecting my self-hatred," tweeted @fruit_basket13. "What’s crazy is there is an actual mermaid behind Andrew and no one is talking about it," added @foshowentmnt. "New meme, new reaction photo all in one," said @illuminatedros3. "One thing about Andrew Garfield, he will always deliver memes at the Oscars," noted @satellitecherry. Fans also loved Pedro Pascal's effortless smoldering with his fingers to his eyes in an 'I'm watching you' motion. Garfield's reaction stood out from all the other actors who were called out. "Everyone else is ready go to,"  tweeted @ShanLFTV, Andrew Garfield is "regretting every decision he's ever made in his life."

Kimmel quipped there would be no slapping or any violence during the ceremony. “You’re gonna have to do battle with Michelle Yeoh before you get to me,” he noted before the martial arts actress struck a fierce pose from her seat. “You’re gonna have to beat the Mandalorian before you get to me,” Kimmel continued, as the camera cut to an intimidating Pedro Pascal. Kimmel concluded his bit by adding: “You are gonna have to tangle with Spider-Man!”

Here are more responses that people gave for Garfield's iconic smile.
