TikTok user Djsugue is a ramp agent at an airport. On the platform, he regularly posts videos about his time and responsibilities at work. Recently, the TikTok user revealed how animals who are transported in a plane's cargo hold are treated. Despite Djsugue's affirmations about how airport staff try to keep pets as comfortable as possible, pet owners have expressed their concerns about how scared their furry friends would be. Many pet owners face the difficult decision of transporting their animals via cargo rather than onboard. This is owing to multiple reasons such as the difficult process of gaining the right permissions and financial costs, God.dailydot.com reports.

In one of Djsugue's first videos addressing the issue, the user shows viewers a small dog resting in a crate provided by the pet's owner. The dog is strapped in behind a fabric partition, away from all the rest of the luggage. The crate door is zip-tied closed to ensure it does not come open mid-flight. Unfortunately, dozens of pets die in such cargo holds every year in spite of the strict precautions airlines put into place. Those watching the TikTok user's videos were not very convinced, with many claiming they would never transport their own pets in this manner.

One user wrote, "I’d put one of my siblings under there before I put my dog." Another added that they would "simply drive across the ocean" instead of putting their pets in the cargo hold. "I could never do this to my dog," a fellow TikTok user wrote. "I’d be crying and throwing up the entire plane ride knowing how lonely and scared he is." In subsequent videos, Djsugue displays more dogs getting ready to take a trip. He also shared helpful suggestions for any pet owners who may be traveling with their pets in cargo hold.

He notes in one video, "[Make] sure you put blankets around their cages so that they can stay warm." Meanwhile, other ramp agents provided details of their own experiences. One wrote, "As a ramp agent myself we love your pets and always make sure they are okay and safe." Nonetheless, pet owners called for an airline that specifically caters to pet owners, allowing for a safer and less stressful way for animals to travel. One user observed, "The demand is definitely there." Unfortunately, an initiative like this one may take a few years to come to fruition.
