An American influencer decided to take a medical tourism to Turkey and the entire health screening cost her way less than what he would have paid in her country.
Healthcare prices in the US are skyrocketing. Even basic health screening and check-ups require people to dish out hundreds and thousands of dollars. As a way to combat these high prices, people from the United States are taking medical tourism to countries where they can get a proper health check-up at decent rates. A woman named Bryn Elise—who goes by @bryn.elise on TikTok—shared a video on her profile, documenting the details of what it is like to get a bunch of tests and health screenings done in Turkey.
What's more shocking to people is how the healthcare facilities provided to Elise in Turkey only required a pocket pinch of $810. Elise mentions in her video that if she had done all these tests back in her home country, it would have cost her more than thousands of dollars. The bonus was a little vacation in Turkey as well. "I flew to Turkey to get the most in-depth check-up of my life and it was the greatest thing I've ever done for my health and my bank account," she states at the top of her video that shows glimpses of her trip to Turkey.
"Doing this in the U.S. would have cost me thousands and taken months to line up, but in one day we're doing it all: scans, tests, meetings with specialists, and the price of everything is jaw-dropping," she reveals. The following clip in the video shows Elise in a state-of-the-art medical facility while going through her tests and screenings. "I'm here at the fanciest hospital I've ever seen with a list of mysterious ailments to get to the bottom of so, let's go. Sam met me, my amazing translator/coordinator for the day," Elise continues while exploring the medical facility. She gets her blood drawn for the medical staff to run tests then they check her blood pressure, height and weight too.
"And now we're off to radiology for a chest x-ray and an abdominal ultrasound. We also did a thyroid ultrasound and went over to nuclear medicine and did a bone density scan," she shares, adding that the medical facility also had an amazing restaurant that serves popular Turkish delicacies and can be delivered to the patient's rooms too. "I did a lot of research for this trip and ended up choosing a Memorial Group Hospital because the Joint Commission International accredits them and I have never seen a hospital with so many amazing reviews," she said, adding a screenshot of the reviews in her video.
Next up, Elise meets the internal medicine doctor who walks her through her test results. She had gone through more than 30 scans and cancer markers to figure out if anything was wrong with her health. They even carry out gynecology tests and then get her vision checked. The cardiology tests were done by making her walk on a treadmill with various monitors attached to her body. "Personally, I'd rather spend $700 on a flight to Turkey, get dozens of tests there, and take a whole vacation than spend the thousands that this would have cost in the United States," Elise elaborates. However, Elise's TikTok audience was skeptical, expressing how Elise's story was too good to be true and were amazed after hearing the price Elise paid.

Had a root canal done for $50 at a nice dentistry and gave birth at one of the nicest hospitals in Istanbul and it cost less than $500." @idkwutimdoing10 added, "The way in the US I have actual thyroid problems and no one has ever even mentioned a thyroid ultrasound?"
