American mom living in the UK reveals the joy she didn’t know existed before and it's really fruitful

Moving abroad has caused people to embrace different cultures and practices. Many love how other countries function and are mesmerized by the most mundane ideas. An American woman spilled the beans on one of the things that gives her the most joy after moving to the UK. She shared a video revealing that ever since she moved, she has found an extreme delight in something unusual yet basic. “In the UK…” she began sharing excitedly. Following her words with the most unhinged grin, she added, “...tell me if I’m wrong but we find pleasure in things.” 

The woman mentioned that she “identifies as British” ever since she moved from America. “It’s 2024, I’ll identify as I wish, I identify as British, thank you,” she remarked. The woman clarified that she was originally from America and never thought that the idea of such a regular item would bring immense, profound joy. “I never knew this joy until I moved here,” she exclaimed, letting out another gleeful chuckle. It seemed as if the woman had won the lottery and had something spectacular to share. However, the case was quite the opposite. “Mine arrived today and it brings so much joy,” she added. 

Leaving many in suspense, the woman only gave away that she was nothing but overjoyed at what she received. "Do you know what I mean? Let me show you what I have,” she said eagerly, as she walked out her door. The woman immediately turned around and captured a rusty old skip. A skip is a container kept outside houses to throw trash into and has nothing visually fancy. However, for the woman, it seemed to be a luxurious jackpot. “I’ve got a skip,” she said with the biggest smile. Though there remains a doubt as to why one would enjoy the presence of a garbage container, the woman had a fairly practical explanation. 

“I have a skip and I have a window,” she remarked. She revealed that the joy was not just in the idea of having a skip but in the practice of being able to toss garbage out the window into the skip in her current country. “I can just chuck things out the window into the skip,” she said proudly. “It’s such a joy, you don’t know until you move to the UK how amazing it is to have a skip,” she defended herself. 

Though many couldn't understand the woman's happiness, fellow residents found it relatable and shared in her joy. @gwarred_ said, “A skip? In this economy? Rich!”  @hellodolly222 shared, “Last year our neighbor had one and couldn’t fill it. He said we could all chuck and every neighbor was running out with all their rubbish to throw in someone else’s skip with complete delight.” @andyd78909 wrote, “I was not expecting this but so true!” @jessicamitchell exclaimed, “I’m jealous of your skip. I would love one of my own but I have nowhere to keep it.”
