As the mom showed some cool features in an Okinawa playground, people could not help but wonder how great it is for kids.
When kids are at an age where they love risky play like running too fast, climbing heights or jumping, parks and playgrounds are the saviors for parents. Some parks are built in such a way that they are not only fun for the kids but also the grown-ups. An American mom living in Japan shared about an amazing park in Okinawa that impressed her beyond measure. Nickelle Tilley Mickelsen–who goes by @nickellemick on TikTok–posted a video where she gave us a quick look around the fun-filled playground, which was so cool that even adults would want to play in it.
"So parks in Japan are like nothing I've ever seen before. I'm going to show you the one we came to today," began Mickelsen. As she gave a glimpse of one side of the park, it seemed much more entertaining than many local parks in the United States. It had huge slides, rock climbing structures, rope courses and also a bouncing area on top. The entire park area had so many slides that no kid would have to wait in line. Also, Mickelsen had a trip down an interesting slide that was full of rollers with her daughter and she wrote, "This one vibrates the hell out of your bum."
Apart from the myriads of entertainment, the park also had a zip line for kids. One of the notable things was that every area in the park was well-protected and well-maintained. Also, Mickelsen was so excited about the vending machine in the park. Though America has several vending machines in public places too, the one in Japan stood out because it served hot and cold drinks. Mickelsen captioned her video, "One of the most kid-friendly cultures I've ever experienced," lauding the awesome way of life in Japan.
The viral video has gained nearly 172K views so far and people in the comments were in awe of the delightful play areas in Japan, which is not so common in the US. "Yes!! The parks plus the play areas in the malls for kids!!! So clean and nothing like I've ever seen!!" wrote @mgzsk. "I think we are starting to see some parks like this in America. They just built an inclusive park near me and it's wonderful. No vending machine though," commented @summerelder1. "I can't even get my kid to leave the parks with no playground, just imagine if we were there," wrote @sujeyamellaly.
Being a TikTok content creator and popular for sharing videos about her life as a parent in Japan, Mickelsen posted yet another interesting video about the country's kid-friendly culture. The mom shared how every place in Japan is equipped with clean baby rooms to help parents warm their babies' formula or change diapers. Also, clean and spacious nursing rooms are available separately for breastfeeding mothers. Sanitized and free strollers, often with fun options for kids, complimentary pajamas, slippers and toothbrushes for kids at hotels, play areas at many restaurants and gifts for kids after meals were some of the highlights. The country's courteous way of life seems to be a paradise for parents.
