'He’s got that nice house and family because of his attitude.'
There is nothing more beautiful than getting offered some rest and food after a tiring day of work; there is also no one as beautiful as a person who opens their heart to a stranger to do so. Kindness not only benefits the person on the receiving end but also the one giving it by generating positive feelings in their hearts — especially on a holiday. A delivery agent — who goes by @amazonguypov on Instagram — shared one such act of kindness by a recipient whose house he'd arrived at.
There is nothing sadder than being away from family, out working, on a holiday — when others gather for feasts and fun, and you have shed sweat on the company clock. Something similar happened with this Amazon deliveryman who was out delivering packages on Memorial Day when a kind stranger’s big heart came to his rescue. Upon reaching his house, the owner asked if he was hungry and wanted some barbecued chicken and corn, to which he replied with surprise, “Really?” He was invited to their backyard — where his whole family had gathered — for lunch; the gesture echoed through his heart, and he followed the man.
He offered him whatever was prepared, including a corncob, some butter sauce to enhance its taste, and delicious chicken for protein. The man’s family seemed just as kind when they greeted him, talked to him about his work, and welcomed him to lunch. He self-served the food on his plate and started leaving when the kind man wished him “Happy Memorial Day.” It’s videos like this one that make us believe that selfless deeds are still happening in this world. Helping the deliveryman did not benefit the host in any way, but surely made the agent's day, for he received something unexpected and special on a holiday he had to spend away from family and celebrations — working.
According to data shared by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are usually over 1.5 million delivery trucks on U.S. roads, which are delivering household items, skincare and makeup products, clothing items, and more. However, the United States Postal Service (USPS) states that the numbers increase tenfold during the holidays. Fortunately, about 91 percent of these agents feel welcomed by society during their duties and also enjoy posting about it on social media. About 92 percent of them deliberately take on shifts during holidays, out of which 75 percent do it to make extra money, and about 88 percent believe the employer pays better during this time. Further, 85 percent say their duties this time of the year leave them with unforgettable memories — and we now know why.
After watching the wholesome video, @annguyenofficial_ wrote, “He’s got that nice house and family because of his attitude. Where most tend to think of themselves and what they can get out of life, successful people learned to think of others and how to bring value.” While @76sean151 commented, “A man that brings you in to eat with his family, is an inspiration to us all,” @another.bushnell exclaimed, “That’s so awesome. You can tell that dude is so hospitable!” Finally, @sconniekush_ expressed, “These are true Americans.”
