Ali Wong in her acceptance speech thanked her ex-husband citing his commitment as a reason behind her being able to follow her heart.
Relationships are complicated and they are filled with highs and lows. However, it is important for everyone's well-being that people embrace the good memories associated with a bond and move on. Ali Wong showed a beautiful example of this on stage at the Golden Globes as she received the award for Best Female Actor in a Limited Series. The actress and stand-up comedian won the honor for her turn in Netflix’s road rage drama "Beef," per Scary Mommy. She made history with this win by becoming the first woman of Asian descent to win in this category. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude towards people who helped her follow her heart every day, which included her ex-husband Justin Hakuta.
Wong shared in her speech, "I really need to thank the father of my children and my best friend Justin for all of your love and support. It's because of you that I'm able to be a working mother.” Global Dreams Index Survey in its analysis found out that half of the women's population in the world have given up on their dreams. This is primarily because of a lack of support they receive from their domestic sphere. Societal regulations are set up in such a way that domestic responsibilities like taking care of the children and home, fall on women. Men have a way to easily get out of these duties and put all the pressure on women. This becomes damaging to a woman's career prospects.

Wong's ex-husband, Hakuta, did not step away from his responsibilities. This, in turn, helped Wong have the space and focus she needed to pursue her dreams. The best friends married each other in 2014 and became parents to two children, Mari, 8, and Nikki, 6, reports People. The couple went their separate ways in 2022, with Wong filing for divorce just last month, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Despite the ups and downs in their relationship, both of them have remained committed to their children and share a healthy co-parenting relationship.

Wong also thanked the cast and crew of Beef in her speech. "I really need to thank Sonny [Lee] so much for creating such a beautiful show and inviting me to be a part of it," she said, adding, "The friendship that I made with you and Steven [Yeun] and Jake [Schreier] and the rest of the cast and crew will always be the best thing that came out of Beef.”

Wong arrived at the ceremony with her boyfriend, Bill Hader. They were linked for the first time in 2022, but later it was reported that they had taken a break. In April 2023, they were reported to have rekindled their relationship. The "Barry" creator talked about Wong last year without naming her: “My girlfriend and I were talking and she brought it up that I haven't had a vacation in 10 years, so I think I need to go."
Talking about her speech with Entertainment Tonight, Wong shared, "Yeah that's right, I like to keep it peaceful and grateful and amicable." In her interview, she also showered praise on the creators of her hit show. "This was such a special project and I really didn't know these guys that well beforehand and we've become so close," Wong said. "So just to be able to celebrate with them here and just be like dressed up together, it's really fun and it's really sweet."
