A woman feeling homesick calls her dad for support, but little does she know, he’s already planning a surprise that will change everything.
Living with family is nothing short of bliss; however, to lead a career-driven life, many say goodbye to their childhood homes. Amidst all the hustle and bustle, people eventually get tired and wish for a reunion with their loved ones. A woman found herself facing a similar situation, and what she did next was dial her go-to man—her dad—for support. The caring father from Lewiston, Idaho, Coy Collins—who goes by @coyrcollins on TikTok—took very little time to surprise his adult daughter, restoring her much-cherished smile.
Notably, the caregiver had always remained close to his children, and it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that he meant the world to them. A widely circulating video showed Collins making an unannounced visit to his daughter’s home, located in Washington’s Harbor, following a hectic six-hour drive.
The loving dad didn’t let geographical constraints stop him from knocking on his daughter’s doorstep after her meltdown during a phone conversation between the two. During their chat the day before, the video creator’s adult daughter had confessed to feeling low. All she kept wishing for was to get a nice, tight hug from her favorite man, whom she could turn to during hard times. Cut to the very next day: the daughter, seemingly tired as she returned home from work, appeared to be a healthcare provider, though this could not be verified. Her two pets—or furry friends—gave her a warm welcome, along with Collins, who was patiently waiting to be noticed at the far end of the kitchen.
When the daughter finally spotted her dad, she could not hold back her emotions. She swiftly leaned into his arms, embracing him in the warm hug she had longed for. As the two shared a special moment, tears started rolling down her cheeks, making her realize the importance of having a parent in one’s life. Meanwhile, Collins was comforting his daughter by patting her back, as shown in the nearly one-minute heartfelt video. “When you get off the phone with your daughter and can tell she’s missing home, a father will do anything to bring home to her,” he wrote in the description, suggesting that the six-hour drive meant nothing to him when it came to his daughter’s well-being.
“I called her two nights before, and she sounded down. I asked what was wrong, and she said she missed her family,” Collins later told Newsweek. At that very moment, the man made up his mind about giving his sad daughter a surprise to uplift her spirits. “So, I drove from Lewiston to Gig Harbor. She was very happy to see me, as you can see in the video,” he added. The dad reached Washington just in time, a little before his daughter’s work hours ended, asking his son-in-law to record their cherished reunion moment. The endearing footage inspired many to open up about their similar circumstances and how their parents came to seek refuge. Among them, @ohkayfitness recalled, “My dad drove from West Virginia to Michigan when I was 8 months pregnant just to check on me.” “Not me watching this crying cause I’d do anything to have my dad one more day,” @_mylifeisacrazyride28_ added.
