'All of a sudden, out of nowhere, she just started saying 'hi' to people,' said the mom and added, 'She just kept doing it so I took my phone out.'
Babies aren't always in a chirpy mood while boarding a flight. As a result, a few passengers tend to complain about crying toddlers on the plane. But a 10-month-old girl changed the game with her charm. Desiree Stearns, 33, said her daughter remained jolly despite a July flight from Chicago, Illinois to Orlando, Florida, was delayed for over three hours. In fact, Julianna, who is now 11 months old, decided to spread some cheer to other passengers as well. How, you ask? She gleefully greeted every passenger when they were finally allowed to board. "All of a sudden, out of nowhere, she just started saying 'hi' to people," Stearns told TODAY. "I wasn't even recording at first, but she just kept doing it so I took my phone out." Little Julianna said hello to "literally everyone who walked by." What was even sweeter was that most of the passengers would "stop and say hi" back despite being tired and disgruntled having to wait so many hours for their flight. "Pretty much everyone did," the Florida mom said. "I think there were 300 or so people on that plane. It was full."
Stearns and her husband had flown to Chicago to visit extended family, along with her baby and mom. She felt proud that her baby was so sweet through the journey. "It made (me and my husband) feel good as parents, you know? We're so lucky and blessed, especially after a horrible flight — and our flight to Chicago was awful as well. She was just such a trooper," Stearns said of her daughter. "That video was just for me and her, you know what I mean? I'm just glad to catch it on film." The video of the sweet baby has since gone viral on TikTok with over 4 million views. "When your 10-month-old says hi to everyone on the plane," her mom wrote on the video, adding in the caption by saying, "She loves people and was such a trooper on our delayed 3 hours flight! Welcoming everyone on board."
"I ultimately took that video just because I thought it was so cute," Stearns said. She and her husband refer to their baby girl as their "little star," after the video got so many hits. @buddhafulnikki commented, "My flight would be 100x better if I got greeted by that cutie." @lindsayk1986 added, "She is absolutely adorable. I know she made a number of folks smile and brightened their day!" @travelingsnowballs asked Stearns, "So, how do I make my future baby like this? Haha, I’m the antisocial one so one of us has to be the cute social one." To this, Stearns replied that she asks "her a million questions a day haha don’t be afraid to take her out!" In another comment by Stearns, she added that her 11-month-old is "talking up a storm."
