For over two years now, 10-year-old Pavel Abramov from the small city of Arzamas in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, has been painting beautiful pet portraits. He exchanges these portraits for animal food and supplies, which he donates to his local animal shelter. The young boy started the project, named "The Kind Paintbrush," with his mother Ekaterina Bolshakova. The idea came about when Abramov lost his own pet and felt a need to help the strays in his neighborhood. Since then, his little project has grown beyond his imagination. He has even managed to open his own arts center, Bored Panda reports.

The arts center, the Art Pate creative cat studio, functions as a workshop for Abramov and his friends. Groups can visit the center and attend various educational and entertainment events to help animals. Dozens of stray cats also call the center their home, hence the name. His mother explained, "We pick them up on the street, treat them, vaccinate them, get passports, and look for their new owners among our guests." Visiting Art Pate is also a way for young children to learn about how to take care of animals. "Children learn to care for and properly handle animals," she shared. "We regularly teach special kindness classes."

So far, the center has organized over 20 events, including food collection campaigns, charity festivals, photo sessions and fairs, flash mobs and concerts, auctions, and creative classes, for the benefit of animals in need. In addition to this amazing feat, Abramov has donated three tons of food and over 500,000 Rubles to a dog shelter this year alone. Bolshakova stated, "A lot has happened in our project this year. Pavel Abramov’s ‘Kind Paintbrush’ is now an international movement to help animals in shelters. Today’s numbers: about 150 orders sent to 15 countries in the world and about 1,000 orders in the queue. Thanks to this, it was possible to gain more than 3,000 kilos of food, medicine, household items, repair materials, and household equipment at the shelter, and more than 500,000 Rubles to the animal shelter Life."

Life is one of the young artist's main beneficiaries. The animal shelter has launched sterilization programs for homeless animals as well as food collection boxes to help feed the animals who live in the shelter. Abramov has definitely come a long way since he was first discovered online by a global audience. When he first began, he would paint adorable animals of owners who were ready to sign a deal to provide kilograms of porridge, meat, and other supplies in exchange for the painting of their beloved pet.

His proud mother said at the time, "Our family is proud of his wonderful project. His days are scheduled to minutes, he wants to do absolutely everything, there is just not enough time." Now, she is even more amazed by what her son has been able to accomplish. "All of this is born in Pasha’s head, and we, the parents, help him bring these ideas to life," she stated. "At the same time, we don’t collect donations for ourselves—we work hard and donate funds for animals.”
