Whenever we open social media, we see a lot of content creators conducting street interviews where they ask random strangers a bunch of questions about life and other things. Filmmaker and content creator Karim Jovian—who goes by @karimjovian on TikTok—is one of them. He goes around New York City, stopping strangers to spare some life advice for youth and asking them about the life lessons they have learned so far.

In a well-received video of Jovian which reached over millions of views, he came across an older woman who shared how she stays young at heart and what gives her a sense of fulfillment. Jovian starts the interview by asking her what it feels like to be 93 years old and the lady drops her honest opinions about it. “Well, my feet hurt,” she laughed while answering. “Otherwise, I know that I don’t have that much longer in the world, and I don’t feel sad about it, because my feet hurt, and other things hurt. My physical condition is just going to get worse. But otherwise, I have a good life and I enjoy it.”

Jovian asked her if she was happy and she readily answered that she indeed was and even revealed the reason behind it. “I’m happy because I’m doing what I want to do,” she said. “I get to come out to Washington Square Park and watch all this crazy stuff.” It was later revealed that the woman he spoke to was a renowned photographer named Rosalind Fox Solomon. Solomon has received several accolades throughout her career where she documented the lesser-known side of the American lives and even achieved a Lifetime Achievement Infinity Award in 2019, per the International Center of Photography.

Jovian came up with a rather interesting question next where he asked Solomon how she creates a life that holds meaning. “How do you stay happy?” he asked. Solomon revealed that her secret to happiness is simply “being involved with projects.” She advised that if someone wants to be happy they should pursue their passion. “Find something that interests them very, very much, and to pursue that interest,” Solomon said. Her advice for older and retired individuals was that they should participate in more community activities and it can prove to be a great way to keep their minds active and stay socially connected.

Another secret behind Solomon having a fulfilled life is having a set of close friends. She loves to stay in touch with her near and dear ones and it truly brings her joy. Last but not least, the final secret behind her happiness is that Solomon is happy being by herself. She recognizes the importance of being happy with who she is. “I would tell people to ‘reach out to other people, but to be happy in their own company,’” Solomon concluded. Her honest outlook towards her life and the youthful spirit she has still retained made the folks in the comment section of the video, fall in love with her thoughts.

@midlifemoneymoves wrote, "Damn I needed this. I’m out here at 54 years old acting like it’s my end days." @jackieblue0007 quipped, "She has another 10 years in her. To be so sharp and functioning at 93 is epic. You go girl." @tatapedrozap mentioned, "If you notice, she didn't mention husband, or son and daughters, either grandkid, only be happy with your own company." @cocopuffs1029 added, "I don’t fear being ancient as long as I’m alert and healthy like her to be able to do things, including taking care of myself." Solomon is truly an inspiration for people who fear aging is the worst thing that could happen to them.
