Not many people are fortunate enough to have their grandparents witness their wedding. Even if they manage to be a part of your wedding guest list, they surely don't expect to be in the wedding as your maid of honor or best man. This grandson surprised his 86-year-old grandfather in the sweetest way possible by asking him to stand by his side on his big day as the best man at the ceremony.

Bri Shields, who goes by @briiishieldsss on TikTok, shared a heart-touching moment between her husband and his grandfather, which swiftly went viral and gained over 1 million views on the platform. In the clip, viewers can see Shields' husband handing over something resembling a decorated pie with an exciting proposal written on it. The sentence made with icing reads: "Will you be my best man?" The old man reacts with joy and surprise and exclaims, "Really?"

After that, we get a slideshow of pictures taken from the wedding where the elderly gentleman looks dapper in a black suit while wearing Vans along with other best men at the wedding. The grandpa doesn't fail to shine through each image as he poses alongside the groom and other wedding guests. In one picture, we can even see him planting a kiss on his grandson's cheeks. It is certain that he will remember this special day for the rest of his life.

Fellow TikTok users could hardly hold back their tears as a lot of them wrote how "this video is the best thing they have seen on the internet." Many others wished their grandparents were still around to attend their weddings. @alwayzv observed: "The way he looks at you. Literally the best, best man ever!" @ekgreengo67 wrote: "You made him the proudest man alive that day." @briannecampanaro penned an emotional comment: "Instantly crying over here at 7:36 a.m. What a special thing you’ve done. Made me think of my grandpa who passed two years ago." @xsonechko added: "I always said if I get married in her lifetime my grandma will be my maid of honor."

In a similar story, a man named KC Schafer made sure his 90-year-old grandpa became his best man on the big day. According to ABC News, the veteran named Charles Schafer has been KC's role model and idol since he was a kid. "I spend so much time with him. He pretty much modeled me into the man I am today," the groom admitted.

Charles initially did not believe that his grandson would want an "old man up there" but he was pleasantly surprised when KC took him for engagement ring shopping as well. "I was wondering if I could keep up with them boys," Charles joked. "I was in eight weddings before and in six of them, I was the best man. When I wasn’t the best man they got divorced. But every one of the six when I was the best man, they were together ‘til they died.'"

Getting the privilege to attend his grandson's wedding and being his best man brought back some fond memories for him as well. "That brought back old memories for me," Charles recalled. "My wife died on October 19, 2015. We had 65 years of marriage." KC and his bride Sarah also planned to get married on the same day April 15 when Charles married his wife in 1950.
