It's crucial for parents to educate their children about safety measures to help them stay calm and navigate situations where they might get separated from their guardians. This was the case for an 8-year-old girl from Quzhou, China, who got separated from her grandfather after returning from dance class, according to the South China Morning Post. Despite feeling lost and anxious, she knew exactly what to do to reunite with her family.

When she couldn't find her grandfather, the 8-year-old knew she needed to find an ATM kiosk. In China, these kiosks are equipped with an emergency button that connects directly to the bank's call center. So the little girl got in touch with the Quzhou Rural Commercial Bank and informed one of their employees, Zhou Dongying, that she was lost and didn't know the phone number of her family members. The bank's staff promptly informed the police and stayed on the line to comfort the little girl.

The emergency button soon proved its worth as officers from the Kaihua County Public Security Bureau arrived to help reunite the girl with her family. According to The Global Times, the police were able to escort her back home because she knew her home address. The news outlet further mentioned that the 8-year-old's mom had taught her how to use the ATM's emergency button and advised her to find ATM kiosks if she ever found herself separated from her family and needed help.

Many local ATM booths in the country have two types of emergency buttons near the ATMs. One button is the emergency call button, whereas the other one is an emergency alarm button. Unfortunately, this feature is unavailable in many ATM kiosks in the United States, as mentioned by the Associated Press. Some ATMs have standard emergency buttons, but it's not widely available. If the children are given the right lessons at the right time, then they are capable of pulling themselves and others out of crisis.

In a similar story, a 6-year-old girl rushed out to call for help when her mom collapsed at home from a seizure. Jennifer Hill, the mom of 6-year-old Quinn, was preparing dinner for her three kids when she started experiencing a seizure. "Quinn told me that I sat down in the chair and I looked up at the ceiling and started breathing weirdly. She said that I then fell out of the chair onto my left side and my fists were clenched and my body was convulsing. My eyes were open and she kept saying, 'Mommy, Mommy' and I would not respond," Hill recalled to Good Morning America.

When Quinn's mom failed to respond to her call, the little girl immediately ran out of the house with her little brother to ask the neighbors for help. Thankfully, the neighbors rushed in to help Hill and alerted her husband, Jason, who was in the police department. The emergency service was dispatched immediately and Hill was taken to the Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, North Carolina, where the doctors diagnosed her with a grand mal seizure. Honoring Quinn's thoughtful act, North Carolina Conover's Mayor Kyle J. Hayman announced February 5 as "Quinn Hill Day." The 6-year-old was also presented with a certificate of recognition during a city council ceremony.
