Although it took some convincing, the boy joined his dad for a workout, and it turned out to be a great experience for both of them.
Kids often learn by observing their parents' actions and may want to participate in the traditions that are dear to them. While some activities may be too young for them, others can become core memories. A 6-year-old boy whose dad agreed to take him on a training session with his group early in the morning experienced something similar. It turned out to be a wonderful moment for both father and son. Kristoffer Koerper, who goes by @fullstrengthfather on Instagram, shared the wholesome experience on the platform.
"My 6-year-old son has been begging to come workout with my men's group for months," the text overlay of the video read. "Can I please, just once, wake up and train with you guys?" the boy asked. "You want to train with my guys?" the dad responded. "Yeah, just once," the boy said. The dad reminded him, "But you need your sleep." The boy continued to plead, and the dad promised they would do it soon. Finally one day, Koerper decided to take his son with him at 4:30 in the morning. "Time to wake up, dude," he said as he woke his son for the training session. The duo had prepared the boy's clothes the night before, and the boy even said a prayer to have enough energy for the morning.
"Ready to go workout?" the dad asked as his son ate a banana before they headed out. Koerper cheered for his son as he did two reps at the gym. "Go ring that bell," a person in the background said as the entire group clapped for him. During their run, Koerper asked, "Are you having fun?" The boy nodded and replied, "Yes," then prepared for another round of running with his dad. "I thought it was really fun," the boy said. "Well, I liked how you got to lift and I got to do pull-ups and stuff, you know?" Then, the boy asked, "Did you have a good time?" The dad said, "I had a great time."
The caption read, "This was definitely a core memory for both of us. Driving home with him this morning as the sun came up, his hand in mine, I felt a deep gratitude." The dad added, "How fortunate I am to have the privilege of raising my sons alongside my wife. Fatherhood is where it's at." Many people in the comments expressed their thoughts on the wholesome moment between the dad and the son. @_killinthegame wrote, "Asking dad if he had a good time means he was raised right, asking the friend if he had a good time means he's just going places. Beautiful."
@m232323smith commented, "It's funny if you listen at the end, the boy tried the old 'leave behind' move to make sure that he'll be able to come back and pick up that item. And get another workout with his old man. The kid is playing chess, not checkers." @gravedigger1913 shared, "My dad's best friend was a cop and they'd go running super early. He finally let me join them just once. When my dad came to wake me, he opened the door and whispered my name. I threw the covers back and revealed that I was fully dressed and was wide awake for hours. We got back home before the sun was out. I remember falling asleep when we got back home. I was the happiest little 6-year-old girl in the entire world. It's still one of my most cherished childhood memories."
