5-Year-Old BFFs Destroy Prejudices By Getting The Same Haircut To Confuse Their Teacher

Two best friends showed the internet that a little bit of friendship can go a long way when it comes to breaking down racial barriers.

5-Year-Old BFFs Destroy Prejudices By Getting The Same Haircut To Confuse Their Teacher

At a point in time when everything seems divisive, it's sometimes children, full of nothing but positivity and devoid of biases, who remind us that our similarities can bring us all together in mutual understanding and friendship. In an adorable post uploaded to social media platform Facebook, mother Lydia Stith Rosebush revealed that her son Jax wanted to get the same haircut as his best friend Reddy so that their teacher would be confused as she wouldn't be able to tell them apart. That seems like a flawless plan until you find out that Jax is white and his BFF Reddy is black. While the Facebook post has given thousands of internet users a good laugh, it has also reminded netizens about how easy it is to get along if we just focused on everything that unites us.

Mother Lydia, posting a photo of Jax and Reddy in their Christmas best, revealed in February 2017: This morning Jax and I were discussing his wild hair. I told him that he needed a haircut this weekend. He said that he wanted his head shaved really short so he could look like his friend Reddy. He said he couldn't wait to go to school on Monday with his hair like Reddy's so that his teacher wouldn't be able to tell them apart. He thought it would be so hilarious to confuse his teacher with the same haircut.  Here's a picture of Jax and Reddy from their Christmas program. I'm sure you all see the resemblance. If this isn't proof that hate and prejudice is something that is taught I don't know what is. The only difference Jax sees in the two of them is their hair.

Of course, people loved it. The post has since received over 225,000 reactions and 15,000 comments. It's also been shared over 106,000 times. In the comments section, people noted how adorable the photo and Jax's intentions were. Jewel Cole commented: Awww! So special and precious! I see two little boys with friendship and respect for each other. God bless them, their parents, and their teaching. Liz Seaward Ash added: Oh my God, so adorable... A lot of people sure could learn from these two amazing children.

After Lydia's post went viral, the boys received a fair bit of attention. They were even invited to be on Steve Harvey's talk show. The doting mother has also posted regular updates about the two best friends. In April 2017, she posted a photo of the boys in which they looked exactly like former President Barack Obama and now Presidential candidate Joe Biden. She stated: This comparison was made when the boys first went viral and I seriously couldn't help myself today. Jax and Reddy in the future. These boys are going places! And they sure are, Lydia. They sure are.
