Starting with Christmas in 2022, a woman sends out hundreds of Christmas cards each year to people's mailboxes in search of her soulmate.
Every holiday season, they arrive like clockwork. Nuzzled inside envelopes of vivid colors, the Christmas cards often carry dazzling graphics and illustrations, some printed and some handpainted. The card featuring the illustration of a happy couple gazing at the Christmas tree, or the one with the photo of a family celebrating with wine, demonstrates how the design varies from card to card—from festive motifs to religious symbols. But a 33-year-old single woman from Los Angeles, California, once realized that most of these cards feature couples or family pictures and never single people. Upon this striking realization, Paige Davis (@paigedav) reformed the Christmas card ritual and used it as an opportunity to break stereotypes and find her partner.
In a December 2024 video that has been watched over 3.6 million times, Davis shared the compilation of clips and pictures that reveal the origin story of her personalized holiday card ritual. “In 2022, I asked myself, why do only families send out holiday cards? Why can’t single people send out cards,” she wrote in the text overlay. The background showed Davis swaying and grooving to Kelly Clarkson’s “Underneath The Tree” wearing a blue pajama set, in front of a sparkling Christmas tree. As the camera zoomed into the tree, a stunning holiday card popped up among the glittery ornaments on the tree. The card featured the text “Love, Paige Davis” with a model-like photo of her in a glistening wine-red dress.
“I decided to break the stigma that only families can send out cards. And basically, use it as an opportunity to solicit a boyfriend,” she explained. After this, another card flashed in the video. This one had a dark green background. In the foreground, Davis posed in a cream-colored turtleneck sweater, her silky chocolate-brown hair falling over her ears and lapping the sweater. “Please feel free to display this holiday card in a prominent, visible place where any tall, successful man that may enter your home can see it,” read the text on the card.
The video cut through to display Davis’ 2023 card with the message “Happy Holidays” printed in a calligraphy font. This card featured two photographs of Davis in a shimmery golden brown party dress. In one photo, she appeared to be opening the cork of a champagne bottle with sparkly glitter shooting around her. The second photo displayed Davis with her glossy pink lips forming a lovely smile as she posed with her palms tucked to her waist. The next card came with another gorgeous photo of Davis donning a sensuous lacy black choker-neck dress, with her lips dipped in cherry red lipstick and kohl-hued mascara adorning her eyes. Above this photo, the card contained a red panel with the same text as the previous year’s card.
In an interview with Newsweek, Davis revealed that she began her holiday card tradition in 2022, sending out 100 cards but landing no dates. Undeterred, she continued in 2023, adding a charitable twist. Through Venmo donations from her Instagram followers, she raised $2,400 to buy gifts for the “Toys for Tots” program.

For the 2024 card, Davis partnered with the Los Angeles Fire Department's Spark of Love gift donation drive, raising $1,800 for gifts for teenage girls in need of support. All the photographs featured in her cards were shot by professional photographers. "I figured I could not trust my friends and family to set me up, so why not target a new demographic?" she told Newsweek. "Hopefully, some secretaries find the humor in it and hang it in their offices."
On Instagram, people couldn’t help but express their excitement over Davis’ re-created holiday card ritual. “As a holiday photographer I now want to do a day of single ladies mini sessions where we blast Dua Lipa in the studio instead of wheels on the bus and pop champagne instead of bottles,” said @nicolettesarzosa_photo.
@jenn_belander wrote, “This sounds like a Hallmark Christmas movie plot!” The video even attracted a comment from the top stock photography company, Shutterfly.
@dr_mudek tagged Hallmark, suggesting that they make this into a Christmas love story. Whether or not this movie is made, people worldwide are praying desperately that this pretty lady finds her man this time.
