It is important to highlight the numerous powerful moments of solidarity and support from peaceful protests to remember that at the end of the day, these protestors just want one thing: justice
As protests over the death of George Floyd continue across the nation, there have been continued attempts to discredit the calls for justice by amplifying instances of violence during these demonstrations. However, social media posts from a number of protestors seem to indicate that originally peaceful protests only took a turn for the worse when the police enforced aggressive tactics—rubber bullets, tear gas, pepper spray, etc.—on demonstrators and exacerbated an already-tense situation. It is therefore important to call attention to the numerous powerful moments of solidarity and support from peaceful protests to remember that at the end of the day, these protestors just want one thing: justice.
