From timeless fashion trends to remarkable global events, the 1970s was a vivacious decade, witnessing some of the biggest moments in history. As the "Swinging Sixties" came to an end, the cultural revolution and the chaotic freedom that came with it also ended. The 1970s were marked by some major political shifts caused by occurrences like the Watergate scandal, the Vietnam War, the decline of the Civil Rights Movement and so on. On the pop culture front, the death of Elvis Presley and the splitting of the Beatles caused quite a stir. However, on the brighter side, the 70s was an era of evolving technology and lifestyle.

The dawn of disco, heavy metal, punk rock and hip-hop drastically altered the urban nightlife scene in America and other countries. The fashion scene was booming with bold and colorful attire, where bellbottoms, wide-collared shirts, midis, maxis and accessories like headbands, chokers and dramatic glasses were the hottest trends. The entertainment sector prospered and telephones and TV sets were gradually making their way to every household. Being the prime time of the baby boomers and Gen X, the decade seemed to be brimming with life. And with the power of the internet, we can now take a trip down memory lane with the help of r/70s. This Reddit community is home to 70s nostalgia and here are 25 pictures that only people from that decade can relate to.
