Laurie shared that Robin was "brilliant" scholastically. The actor interrupted her and said, "But not very funny." His mother agreed, recalling that he was quite serious as a child. "Mother was funny then," Robin admitted. "She also had a wonderful sight gag that we can't do over here where she cuts a rubber band in half and goes," he added, reenacting the gag, implying that she took the rubber band out of her nose. The mom laughed and said, "Yeah, that's delightful." The actor added, "Yeah, that's the one that drives my father like, that's it, thank you." He continued, "I am leaving and I am not telling you where I am going." Laurie continued to laugh throughout the explanation. "Oh, mom, you are gonna do this!" the actor exclaimed as his mom did the trick and took the rubber band out of her nose in front of the camera.
"You know we embarrassed your dad. I did for years," Laurie told her son. The actor demonstrated how she did that by making a certain kind of noise with her cheeks during dinner. "Yeah, he didn't like that." She explained how he didn't take those things lightly before Robin cut her off and started talking about the whoopie cushions that were another kind of fun in their household. "We had a couple of those," the woman said, "They have been going strong for 50 years and they are still funny." The "Flubber" actor continued, "There's nothing like a Whoopie cushion before a press conference, right Mr. Reagan?" The mom chuckled as she recounted how the Whoopie cushions are really effective after you put a little water in them.
"Right after I come back from the doctor's, oh God, ha ha ha, put a little water in it and then watch it," Robin shared. "Not only does it make a noise, it stains. There's a fun one." People took to the comments section of the video to appreciate the interaction. @dhog41 wrote, "What an adorable woman. I see where he got his humor. Thank you, Mrs. Williams. Your son was truly a gift." @hawaiidream1 commented, "From what I've read, Robin's mom was a model in her younger years and had a very funny, gregarious personality. Robin obviously took after her."
@LukeMaynard remarked, "This is wonderful. The saddest thing about this is that when you hear Robin's real laugh, you realize you've never actually heard him laugh before... just act like it in films. He was never not funny. He was never not surrounded by laughter. But to hear his own real laugh, you realize, was a rare thing his whole life." @caitlinjane92 expressed, "This entire video had me smiling from ear to ear. I honestly lost it at the part where Laurie did the rubber band trick. Robin's laugh over seeing her do it makes it all the more hilarious."
