'Forcing me to choose a password I’m NOT going to remember.'
Generational conflicts are nothing new, except the way people from an older generation react to seeing things they feel are new, unnecessary, and illogical. As we grow older, we often start behaving exactly as the older people we once dismissed, thinking they're 'old-fashioned.' When a woman, who goes by @advicewitherin on Threads, asked, "What is a hot take you’re kind of with the boomers on?' the responses were nothing but relatable.
"Literally, everybody, stop asking me to review every single thing I do in my life! Doctor's office, car wash, groceries, sub sandwich, ride to the airport, nail place, my daughter’s dance school, flu shot, DMV line, plumber, mechanic, just stop with the reviews." - @larenaissancegirl
"Applying for jobs should not be this hard. I should not have to upload a resume and then still have to put in the same information that's on the resume. Actually, just bring paper applications back." - @mandizzle917
"I don’t want touch controls in my car. I want knobs and physical buttons. I can’t be taking my eyes off the road to see if I’m changing the volume or initiating self-destruct." - @soupcan__sam
"I want it to be easier to just make friends by talking to people around me. I don’t want to use a dating app to look for friends. Why can’t I just go somewhere and make friends? It’s awkward and uncomfortable now, and I hate it." - @brandalionx3
"Live music in a small setting should be loud enough that I can still hear the person next to me. I love music, but I also like chatting with my friends." - nailsbybarbk
"I want to be able to speak to a live human being without having to jump through a million hoops first. I also prefer human employees in stores, restaurants, and doctors' offices. And I’m saying this as someone who always avoids social contact. But the automated systems never solve the problem, so you have to talk to someone eventually anyway; it just wastes time." - lady0fthelak3
"I don't want to go through an automated system. I don't want to interact with a 'chatbot.' I don't want to 'troubleshoot' my problem on your website. If you offer a product or service, I should be able to pick up the phone and easily talk to a person to resolve my issue." - @ajm315
"Everything doesn’t need a damn subscription. I was using an adult coloring book app, and it had a ton of ads, and I was willing to pay for them to be removed, but it’s like $8/month. Why in hell would I subscribe to a coloring book?" - shybabi_
"Why is everything a damn subscription? You'll have an app for years, and then suddenly all these basic features are behind a paywall. Also, bring back real people in customer service. I want to order food at the counter, not at a kiosk. I want to be connected with a real person when I call customer service. Why does everything need to be Bluetooth, for f**k's sake?" - @wacky_giraffe
"No more subscription services! If I pay to download something, I should just get to use it. Stop making me buy a printer and some ink and paper and then charging me more to print something — god forbid I just want to use what I paid for!" - @brendonc727
"No furniture or appliances are built to last anymore. Furniture craft, wood making, pottery, and glasswork used to all be built to stand the test of time, made to be passed on for generations. I’m lucky if my IKEA furniture makes it three years — assuming I can afford it to begin with." - shortestorange
"AI is ruining society. There is no reason I should go to a drive-thru and end up speaking to a computer instead of a human person. And cars don't need iPads where the dashboard is supposed to be. I don't want to open 3 apps just to change the direction my vents point." - abbybanks9
"Not every appliance in my home needs to be 'smart.' Not everything needs a touch screen and to talk to me like I'm a baby. Also, technology is bad for kids." - @kara_.wolf
"Forcing me to choose a password I’m NOT going to remember. It also makes it easier for people to figure out your password when you HAVE to include a number and a symbol. Also, I do not want to speak to a machine. It shouldn’t be a guessing game trying to get connected to an actual person." - @ms.lisa.marie.j
"Dear food bloggers, I don't give a f**k about your cat that died in 3rd grade, how cinnamon reminds you of your grandma’s house, or that time you had to bake a cake for your kid’s party... Just show me the damn recipe!" - @sohowarethings
"Teachers should dress professionally. It doesn’t have to be a suit or anything, but there are teachers who dress so casually at my kids’ school that it’s hard to tell if they’re a teacher or another parent/guardian. Literally jeans and graphic sweatshirts. Our gym teacher’s athletic wear is more professional than some!" - @meg
"I absolutely do not want to watch yet ANOTHER bloody remake of 'Jurassic Park' or 'Fantastic Four.' Somebody, somewhere, deliver an original idea for a movie, please. See also: live-action remakes. The originals are great because they are original, smfh." - @kevie_doeslife
"We lost something as a people when streaming replaced scheduled TV. Everyone in the office watching the same thing last night provided a topic of conversation and bonding experiences that so far nothing has replaced (and I think it's probably driven the rise of talking about politics for 'small talk' instead, but small talk politics is dangerous and divisive.) Much as I love streaming because I work overnights, I think it's a net loss for our society." - @nicolejames7887
"I miss having occasional short conversations with strangers. Everyone is afraid to do that in our modern society, and they immediately retreat to their phone when they are waiting in public. It would be nice for people to have that human connection once in a while." - @mraetzel
These points paint an accurate, humane picture of what life used to feel like. Now, it seems like a whole new world, with features that clearly don't make sense to a majority. Maybe it is true that the best things in life
