When fashion blends with nostalgia, it always excites the shoppers. Several fashion brands are identifying this idea and incorporating stories of sentimental value in their products. Adidas has brought back its retro hit model Rivalry, which made its round in the 1980s but this time revamped with a make-over of nostalgic elements in collaboration with UnheardOf. Complex Sneakers (@complex_sneakers), a one-stop guide for sneakers enthusiasts, posted a TikTok video where the designer's grandma is seen unboxing the sneakers released by this collaboration.

Philip Lipschutz, the creator of the designer footwear brand UnheardOf, designed these sneakers inspired by his grandma Naomi Phillip's couch. As grandma starts unboxing the brand-new pair of sneakers in the video, she says, "It's a nice bag. Beautiful, isn't it?" Seeing her words inscribed on the bag, she says, "On the back, it says 'Always be a good boy' and he (Lipschutz) has been." Introducing herself to the audience, the grandma mentions, "I was born in 1923. So, I'm 100 plus four months." She then reveals the sneakers to the audience, saying "I'm going to unbox the Adidas Rivalry Low 'Grandma's couch' by UnheardOf."

The box was designed with a painting created by Lipschutz's grandfather and his grandma shows it off, saying, "My husband, Charlie Phillips, painted this. It's watercolor and he did it on Mother's Day." She then took out the shoes and expressed several times how beautiful it was. Talking about the color and the floral pattern on the shoes, Naomi innocently says, "My favorite color is purple. My favorite flowers. I like all flowers." She proudly tells the audience that it was her handwriting on the UnheardOf logo in the shoes. Naomi was happy to see her favorite flowers, geraniums, tulips, orchids and chrysanthemums printed on the shoes. Her words "Always be a good boy" were also inscribed on the mustard-colored overlay panels of the shoe.

Naomi then recalls the days when her grandson and his gang used to spend time on her couch, saying, "I used to have an old couch that the kids sat on and it had a lot of flowers on it. He (Lipschutz) did a lot of skateboarding and he used to bring his friends over. And I always gave them a snack." It was this couch that inspired Lipschutz to design the sneakers. Being the funny grandma that she is, Naomi laughs about her grandson's mischievous times, saying, "They skated all day and all night and sometimes they got in trouble. He got arrested skating at a church, I think."

In his Instagram post, Lipschutz (@philip_lipschutz) crediting his grandma for inspiring his sneaker design he wrote, "Grandma not only did you save my life and taught good vs evil on your couch, but you taught all my lil homies. Chapter 2 is for you, Grandma."

Grandma lovingly tells the TikTok viewers to go and buy those sneakers and wear them for the upcoming holiday season. She signs off with a little advice, saying, "Always be nice to others." Grandma's story-telling inspired many to check out those shoes and one user @aphrock420 commented, "This has set a new precedent; I don't care about any shoes that aren't inspired by the designer's grandma and I never will." @dr.mahalo wrote, "Thank goodness I know what to wear on Thanksgiving and Christmas now." Another user, @demetriusdaniel86, suggested, "They should do a series of grandma couches like the one with plastic on it. Lol." It's amazing how this sweet and innocent grandma has influenced thousands to buy from one of the world's top brands.
